The Basic concepts of Industrial Pollution

The Basic concepts of Industrial Pollution is the contamination of the physical and biological components of the earth and atmosphere into such an extent that normal environmental processes are Pollution starts contaminating the environment by very much affected. Industrial creating harm or discomfort to humans or other living the organisms and damages the environment” contaminants or pollutants can be in form of chemical substances or energy such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants can naturally occurring substances. be Pollution is a special case of habitat destruction; it is chemical destruction rather than the physical destruction.

Industrial Pollution

Basic concepts of industrial pollution occurs in all habitats, land, sea, and fresh water and in the atmosphere. Also linked with the industrial revolution brought about by technological progress such as discovery of oil and its universal use throughout different industries. Technological progress facilitated by super efficiency of capitalist business practices like division of labour, cheaper production costs, over production, over consumption. Over pollution have probably become one of the main causes of serious deterioration of natural resources.

The Basic concepts of Industrial Pollution

Industrial air pollution

Industrial pollution starts when the environment is not able to neutralize the harmful products. Example poisonous gas emissions.

The industrialist throws the waste into the environment in the form of gas, liquid or solid. The gases usually released into the atmosphere, the liquids discharged into aquatic bodies like canals, rivers or sea. Industrial pollution solid wastes either dumped on the land or in aquatic bodies. In all the case the air or water or land polluted due to dumping of wastes.

The Table in this chapter enlists few of the industries, their wastes (important) and the type of pollution these induce in the environment.

The wide variety of pollutants enter the environment and disturb the natural eco- system affecting the biota. Due to industrial activities, a variety of poisonous gases like NO. so, NO2, SO, Cl2, CO, CO2, H2SO4 etc. Volatile chemicals, dusts etc.,  liberated into the atmosphere causing acute pollution problem. Besides, the accidental leakage of poisonous gases can cause havoc.

For example,

Methyl Isocyanate gas leakage from Union Carbide factory at Bhopal caused mass killing which is known as Bhopal gas tragedy.
